House that stood at 2907 E 35th St. from the date of its erection in 1853, by James Davenport, to Dec. 1st 1916, when it was torn down.  Davenport sold it to Rev. Thos. Johnson, then in charge of Shawnee Mission and the man after whom Johnson County, Kansas was named.  He moved in with his family in 1857.  On Jan. 3, 1865, a band of robbers tried to break in the house but failed, shooting through the door, wounding Mr. Johnson, who died in a short time.
